where do you stand on getting famous people to sign stuff?

michael_w [Edit] [Delete] 19:32, 19 August '08

im not to sure about this.

i ask because mike leigh is doing a signing in HMV on thurs for happy go lucky and im not sure whether to go. on the one hand im getting a copy anyway so then this one will just be signed. but then again, do i want the only encounter i will ever have with an artist i really respect to be me shuffling along like a loser next to a stack of wall-e DS games only to mutter something about his films and then shove the dvd under his nose.

so..what do people think. on the one hand its a bit sad and 13 year old girly. but then...if it is on the persons work...book, dvd..and they are actually quite a culturally significant person...isnt it quite nice to have the added touch of their signature on whatever it is.

but then...what is a signiture anyway, just a wee scribble.

(^ first gag about this wording gets an unwrapped toffo)

but then...if someone gave me a copy of london calling signed by joe strummer i would cradle it like my firstborn.

oh the turmoils of life

any thoughts?
