one foot away from me. it was in the red rug i have on the floor - which is stringy. i skillfully put a glass over it and managed to get an envelope under the glass. then i carefully moved the envelope and glass AND SPIDER onto the floor, off the rug. BUT NOW I'M TOO SCARED TO TRY AND TIP THE GLASS THE OTHER WAY AND THROW THE SPIDER OUT.

urgh. this is when living alone sucks.
