...I have of course just completed my degree. FIVE FUCKING YEARS! But, as some of you will agree, there are a few things I would have done differently. I really enjoyed my time in Glasgow, it was most excellent. But looking back there's a few things I would have done that I either couldn't dp or didn't have the confidence to (I was a particularly shy 17 year old when I left home!) do...here are a few things I suggested to some prospective uni students in the pub tonight.

1) Join some clubs - I wish I did this. You could meet a totally different group and type of person and it's always nice to go on the piss with new people...
2) Don't hang about with people from your hometown/school in the first few weeks of uni too much - it's all about meeting new people and broadening your horizons!
3) Get a job pouring pints in the student union after a few weeks - the extra money will be immensely handy and you will meet lots of new people.
4) Become a student representative - either a class rep or something similar - it will look amazing on your CV once you start looking for jobs and what is a measly few hours each term?
5) Try new things - never played water polo? Try it! Just try new things. You won't know how much you like something 'til you've tried it.

I wish someone could have given me some good pre-uni advice before I departed for the big city. I managed though and loved every minute of it.
