I watched it with my nextdoor neighbour for the first time. She'd never seen an old film properly so I said that a Hitchcock one would be a perfect intro.

Turns out I was wrong. Its brilliant in places but the pacing is wrong. It drags like a slag. There are many Macguffins and the moment he looks into the camera is fantastic.

But Hitchcock fucked that climax up, didn't he?

SPOILER So he gets into the room. Shit. Now what? James flashes him (haha) numerous times, turning his vision orange for about a second. !!! He gets hold of him, chucks him out the window and it turns out the drop is so low, he doesn't even DIE.
