How do you do this in a nice, reasonable way that doesn't make the other person feel shit about themselves.

I've tried being slow to return calls, never calling unless said person contacts me etc. but

a) it makes me feel like a bit of a twat.

b) the friend in question isn't getting the hint.

Any tips?
