I really know nothing about property at all, but I'm thinking that with the inevitable drops in housing values over the next year, maybe despite everything else going on at the moment that might be the only time I'll ever have a shot at trying to buy a house in London and might be worth the effort of trying to do it in some way or other, whether bandying up with friends or something else.

Leaving aside the kind of important question of where the money would come from, is this a reasonable assumption or am I being very very stupid?
