A good friend of mine from school died in a car crash last Friday. Since his death, a Facebook group has been set up and I've exchanged messages with his parents. Today, the funeral was announced - it's next Thursday at 11am, the day I'm flying back to the UK, and also my birthday... I won't be back in time for the funeral but I'm hoping that either people will still be at the wake, or to visit the grave/his parents. Either way, my grandma's going to arrange some flowers for me and deliver them to his parents' house.

It's completely taken me by surprise, not just his death but how upset I've been by it - we'd lost touch over the years, but I suppose that doesn't negate from how much he meant to me.

He was only 21. The whole thing just seems a bit shit, really :(
