Its about that time in the first year when the people in your halls or nearby rooms or from your course are now oFFICIALLY the bestest friends EVER and you phone your old mates back home to tell them about some really 'mad' people you've met and how they'll 'get on like a house on fire, you'll love him, mate' when they go for the perfunctionary visit. There, you'll meet someone who's the polar opposite of you and completely objectionable as a human being, but your mate will be saying 'we're gonna all live together next year yay' etc etc etc.

Its also that when the quiet kid on the corridor starts looking paler or never actually comes back from a weekend away as he's given up already and didn't have any new friends to tell he was leaving
