People are replying in that box even when they mean to reply to an earlier post. The result is you can't make sense of the threads any more and that goes for Linear mode too.

If someone can't work out how to click a hyperlink labelled 'Reply' then they're probably too stupid to be on the internet and we can do without their input. :D
