Objectivity in journalism

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 16:31, 7 January '09

Do you think news should always be impartial?

Do you think there are ever situations when the broadcaster giving their opinion on the matter would be understandable or expected?

Take Gaza, for instance. While Hamas' missile-firing is still a big problem, I think it's fair to say that Israel's response has been heavy-handed, to say the least. Reports from the Gaza Strip make sure they contain the fact that Israel are targetting zones where rockets are coming from, allegedly, but do you think they should have to?

They're clearly doing their best to represent both sides of the coin, but when Israel's bombing is so excessive, and the collateral damage is so widespread, do you think broadcasters should be expected to maintain complete neutrality on the issue?
