I would like it if the wearing of hats was de rigeur again

Lucien [Edit] [Delete] 15:50, 13 January '09

And not the first alarm bell of the twat.

Seeing photos of huge groups of men, all wearing hats, always makes me happy.

I can't see any downsides

- Less time having to be concerned about taming hair in the morning
- Provides another means of expression - tipping hat to strangers, removing it at solemn times, throwing it in the air at the end of wars, pushing it far back on your head during times of puzzlement. It would legitimize
- Makes even the scruffiest man look significantly tidier
- A godsend for the bald
- Would legitimize that other, largely extinct, practice of putting a cigarette or pencil behind the ear to indicate shiftiness and industriousness respectively.

More than anything though, I want to come home from work after a snow fall and hang my hat on a hatstand beside my door, the way a man should and which the last two generations have been denied.
