My very good friend said he was coming to visit me next week for a couple of days, but he only just told me he can't speak. He said it happened a month ago (and i don't know how as i didn't ask) but he said he has severely damaged his vocal chords and he is getting surgery in 6 months and he can barely speak and when he does his voice is completely different. He said he's effectively broken a vocal chord.

Anyone heard of this before and is it repairable?
