What's the shittest thing that's happened to you today

dove_from_above [Edit] [Delete] 15:35, 30 January '09

First of all, earlier today I got a job rejection. I didn't actually want it that much, but disappointing nonetheless. Secondly, I've just had to pay £280 to have my car unclamped

I popped into town to get my brother a birthday card, and as I pulled into the carpark, realised I only had a £20 note in my pocket. No change for the machine! There's a row of shops next to the car park, so I pulled up in a space there, and ran over the road to get the card

Upon my return (about three minutes later), some meat head in a bomber jacket looks up. "This your car mate?". "erm, yeah." "Well, you've just been clamped". He admitted he'd seen me jog over the road, and agreed that I'd only been a couple of minutes. Then his 'supervisor' turned up, another 6ft 5" animal in combat trousers and enough acne scars to convince me his face had been through a shredder. I got pretty angry, and if the two of them hadn't have been representing a company, there's no way I would've had the bollocks to say some of the stuff I was saying

Legally, I clearly haven't got a leg to stand on, because there is a (small) sign up, and it's a private clamping company, so they can charge whatever they want. What a bunch of cunts though. £280! They called a tow truck straight away (before I'd got back to the car), and as I was arguing it out, it turned up. The guy smugly pointed out that as soon as the tow guy hooked up to my car, the charge would go up to over 500 quid, regardless of whether or not he even had to tow it off the premises. So in a really fucked up way I was actually quite lucky, because if I had been more than 10 minutes, my car would've been towed

Completely disproportionate fines - pretty shit?
