Hello.

My flatmate was in the kitchen today. She wears glasses constantly but didn't have them on at the time and I'd never seen her without them before.

I said "oh you don't have your glasses on! You look a lot better without them."

And then a huge argument ensued. She was appalled and shocked and upset and horribly offended. Another flatmate said "that's a fucking disgusting thing to say".

I said it as a compliment and it got interpreted as some sort of insult, but I won't apologise for it. I made the point that it's the intent that is the point - mine was to compliment. Now there are two people in my tiny flat that pretty much hate me for it.

Does it seem as pathetic to everyone else as it does to me? Or am I a complete bastard?
