why does anyone care what anyone else reads, unless it means they can't have good conversations about books?

I've come to the conclusion now that I don't care if someone I know is reading a terrible book. It is probably a reflection on their intelligence, but so what?

If you have read very obscure books/many classics, it just means people are like 'oh', rather than impressed. Not that it's about being impressive, or anything.

Does it bother you what other people read? If your boyfriend or your best friend was like 'oooh, this dave pelzer book is brilliant' would you feel like disowning them?
