new community page / thread longevity (boards-centric)

trans-siberian [Edit] [Delete] 10:34, 27 February '09

Since the community page went from showing the top 5 most recent threads to the top 5 most posted-in recently threads, I have noticed that some of the larger threads (getting girls to like you, is anyone trying to ban st george's day, etc) keep getting reposted in and so last for longer, meaning they stay in the top 5 most posted-in for longer, in a self-perpetuating cycle.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I'm inclined to think it's not good, as it means there is less room for fresh blood and old, bloated threads rule the boards like tribal elders who won't give up their power to the next generation.

What do you reckon? Apologies for the boring thread.
