I've just rang to cancel it, and while on hold did a little reading. Turns out there's every chance that you can get your payment protection refunded retrospectively

Now, I tried this, but I was told that I'd agreed to it online, so more fool me. But if you agreed to it over the phone, they'll basically refund it for you. Depending on how much you've got on your Egg card, and how long you've had it, that could work out to be a couple of hundred quid
