this is why i hate macs

jesus_son [Edit] [Delete] 16:46, 18 March '09

the macbook pro i borrowed from work to edit on just went kaput. every time you restart, all you get is a flashing folder with a question mark, which evidently means it can't find anything to boot from.

apparently fixing it is a matter of going into the checkdisk utility and checking for errors, and making sure your boot disk is set correctly.

thing is, you can't get into checkdisk, or actually anything at all, without having the installation disk (which is at work, and i don't want to request it really, for obvious "hey, i broke your expensive computer" reasons). with a PC, it'd be a simple matter of pressing an F key at startup, but with this glorified child's toy, that's not possible. why would you make a product that has no front end for fixing errors built in? WHY?
