Friday night. Drinking in pub. Up steps this 'indie' fellow to the bar. Friend with me is telling joke. Dead baby one. Finishes it. Gets a good laugh. The 'indie' bloke offers his own. Another big laugh. Then my friend tells a joke about how one race is different to another. Moderate laughter. Indie bloke threatens to stove mate's head. I threaten to stove indie bloke's head in. Indie bloke's friend threatens to stove my head in. Bouncers throw us all out on penalty of stoving all our heads in.

Indie kid's justification for not laughing at racist joke is that racism is worse than cot death. My justification for not laughing at joke was that it wasn't funny. Indie kid replies by saying that racism affects more people than cot death, so shouldn't be joked about.

Left puzzled. Confused. Echos of a similar incident a year ago. Don't understand why one thing is okay to joke about but not another.
