It's out of Cambridge or UCL. Now, if it was for exactly the same course this would be a no-brainer and I wouldn't be darkening your doors with my tedious dilemmas. But Cambridge is for Philosophy, and UCL is for this: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/esps/ basically the best course ever.

Now I know everyone says you should follow the course, but there are other things, pros and cons and stuff.

Cambridge: Shitloads of contact time. It's pretty. It's small. It's inexpensive. You don't have to worry about finding somewhere to live. It has a rather good reputation. However, it also entails shitloads of work, which I guess I'm not overly perturbed by to be fair. And the course, as I say, is NOT the best course ever (although I would be perfectly happy doing it.)

London: I love London. At least, I love VISITING London. It's a little less work. It is, AS I SAY, the best course ever. It's obviously going to be fucking costly though, especially in comparison to the subsidised dreamworld of Cambridge, and you don't get to spend hours a week having one-to-one conversations with the world's cleverest people about the really shitty essay you wrote. There's also a very real chance I could have to share a room with someone in first year, which would kill me.

I'm also pretty worried about which place would suit me more. I'm not outgoing or a party animal. I like a bit of solitude now and then innit. My impression is that London would be horribly crowded but also anonymous, whereas Cambridge would be a lot quieter but with NOWHERE TO HIDE. etc.

tl;dr: Anyone with any advice / who has lived in London or Cambridge or been to either of the unis in question and would like to share their tales of heroics and tragedy / who is, too, picking their firm as it were: the comment box is right there, jeez.
