Two middle-aged suits (one w/moustache) just went at it hammer and tongs on the platform at Liverpool Street station. Because of overcrowding there had been a 15 minute hold up which meant more jostling than usual.

The guy beside me suddenly let out the ironic roar of 'Watch your manners - Fucker!' and threw the guy that had pushed in front of him off the train with enough force that he slid on his dress shoes across the tiles.

In most pub brawls, in reality there's usually only a few pushes on the chest, a lot of swearing and is mainly for show but this involved kicks and actual attempted haymakers, and lots of shrieks relating to politeness.

Finally, moustache man (the cutter inee) pushed a woman who tried to break it up to the ground which is when I thought - this guy is about to get smoked by every single guy on the platform. Sadly the station guards turned up at that moment which prvented a full platform pile up. They still both managed to do that wriggling, screaming at each other while being pulled away thing as well, to round off an excellent middle class rumble.

Conclusion: it is heartening to see the City get in some match practice for dealing with tempeh-eating drum circlers about to wuss up London for the G20. In sporting parlance, it looks like they're up for it.
