just thinking about The Boat That Rocked annoys me.

thommo [Edit] [Delete] 17:24, 8 April '09

i was at one point thinking that i might go and see it, considering that i am interested in the history of pirate radio and it's got some people i like in it. However the more i even think of it the more irritated i become. This seems like a really vibrant and interesting and complex time in British pop that has previously been largely overlooked (i can't think of any examples of a good documentary about the era, Margrave Of The Marshes has a few mentions as have some tv docs about Peel but only as passing anecdotes) and the idea that this post-rock n roll pre-Radio 1 part of broadcasting history is now going to be boiled down to a one-dimensional joke for the mainstream along with disco and punk makes me feel :(

somebody in the Observer said Peter Morgan should have made a film about it. That would have been ace.
