Is it ok in making something up, to get out of doing something, so you can do something else instead?

GalacticStar3ruption [Edit] [Delete] 22:21, 11 April '09

I agreed to go out with a friend I know tomorrow night, an idea that I'm not overly keen on. He'll have a mate with him, that I used to be friends with a very long time ago, but I'm not really looking forward to seeing him again.

The real issue is that, I was supposed to be going out tonight, with a friend who's back from university in Bangor. I won't see him again for a couple of months and so it's quite important. This outing has now been moved to tomorrow night.

I'm thinking of telling friend No.1, that I'd already arranged this tomorrow and had simply forgotten about it. I don't want to be seen to be taking sides or picking favourites, he might not take it very well.

This is fine, right? What would you do?
