Opinions please. It seems to be one of those books that all the great authors and several I love cite as the best book ever or whatever. I think I started it when I was at school and got very bored very quickly and don't seem to know many people who have ever read it.

Is it genuinely enjoyable or just one of those things that is passed down as a "great work" but everyone secretly thinks it's dull?
