I've now read Homicide 'A year on the killing streets' and The Corner 'A year in the life of an inner city neighbourhood' and both have been excellent with The Corner being my favourite. In both cases it pays to have watched The Wire and The Corner before reading the books but I can throughly recommend both.

I've also read Generation Kill, by Evan Wright, that Simon turned into a tv series and that too is fantastic.

Homicide - 8/10
The Corner - 9/10
Generation Kill - 9/10
