Double A-side of Britain is Shit/Fuck the Poor. Quite a statement I thought when, at that time, everyone was fawning over ramshackle indie stuff like the Libertines and the Paddingtons. It just sounded really different to everything else that was around at that time. Rather than having a badly played guitar and slouchy voacals, it was direct and precise with an aggressive yet completely camp vocal delivery.

Sounded great then, sounds great now. It wasn't just the songs, it was the whole package and the perfect timing of its release. Best debut single of all time.
