I'm applying for a job as a pa/recepitionist. The job is on a couple of grand more a year than I'm on at the moment (I'm currently a call centre chimp).

My mate thinks I should lie on my application and say I'm on more money than I am. Is this wise? I was planning on somewhat exaggerating my current responsibilities (as any right thinking person would), but to lie about my salary? Surely they'd find out? My mate insists that everyone does it.
