Innocent question & sorry if I've missed something here.

Just wondering, this whole stickies system - I assumed it was there for site-related stuff to make sure people see it? Surely with any other threads, if they're popular, they're going to stay at the top anyway, so why is it that football threads are always up there in my face with the blue thing on 'em? Eh?
