how do you get to gigs?

we are getting offered things in london/liverpool/stoke and none of us drive, and we just cant keep afford to be paying for trains everywhere as it just gets too expensive to do. ideally we'd be able to play gigs without losing 40 quid everytime, but i dunno how realistic that is.

so advice?!
