Bit emo for the middle of the day this, but DEAL WITH IT.

I've been wrestling with this one for the last couple of months now. After finishing uni last year I applied for both the 4-year graduate entry medical course, and a 1-year masters in international relations (with the idea of maybe pursuing a career in the Civil Service/Foreign Office or international organisations like the UN or WHO). I didn't know which I wanted more so applied for both thinking I could just decide later depending on what I got.

Having got an offer for both (medicine at Warwick and a really good IR course at SOAS) I've been unable to choose for ages, really keen on both and they both have their advantages and disadvantages (medicine is a really long haul, the masters is super-expensive, etc). In the last few days I've basically settled on medicine because out of the two, I'm more certain I can make a success of it. I'm consigning myself to 4 years of incredibly hard work and being a student until I'm 26, but I think it should be just about worth it in the end.

But of course, this means leaving London, and it's making me pretty sad because this is a great place where I have lots of friends, can see lots of gigs, and I'm still just getting to know it (only been living here 6 months). Come September I'll probably be living in Coventry or Leamington - bit of a step down. I'm still going to try and make it down to London to practice with my band every couple of weekends and stuff, and it's not *that* far, but it just sucks.
