Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: Pretty tosh, to be honest. I'm not a fan of the series and this pretty much exemplified why. It's not a story, it's a series of very tenuously linked events that have little to no causality or depth (and I don't want to here anything about how it's better developed and explained in the book. I didn't go to the cinema to read the book). None of the 'kids' can act apart from the ginger one and the mild peril just pissed me off. It reminds me of Star Trek in that respect; when the ship is going to explode and destroy the universe or something, some bright spark will come out with some previously unmentioned wordy gibberish about recombogulating the proton excelartrix and everything will be fine. In the same way, no-one ever has to solve any perilous problem they encounter in Harry Potter. If you're on fire, there's a not being on fire spell. If you're feeling a little gassy, there's a not feeling gassy any more spell. Kinda renders the mild peril pointless.

It looked impressive though and there were a few funny bits, mostly centred around the ginger kid. Maybe good for a HP film but in other terms it's at best just an average film. 2, maybe 2.5 out of 5.
