I only ask as my wife just rang me to tell me she's just gotten rid of a spider which she made sound as if it was only slightly smaller than my car.

In trapping it in a glass, she managed to pull his/her leg off. Then in releasing him/her, he/she shed another leg. Not enought to stop it scampering off, though.

Now, if I had 8 legs, I think I'd be glad to get rid of a couple. That said, if I were to lose 25% of my legs then I think I'd be up against it. Plus, there is the possible ribbing from your elders and betters now that you're not like them.

So, is it going to die of leg loss or what?
