in a toilet, not a urinal...it's good manners to aim the stream at the ceramic at the back of the bowl, and let it flow down gently to the bottom...isn't it? instead of aiming the stream right at the bottom so it makes a loud, splashing noise that can be heard throughout the house. the latter approach is a bit disgusting, right? or at least not the kind of sound you want to wake up to
