starting to get a little odd. a big bumper annual's worth of all things crim and grim. beautifully set out with heaps of black and white photography, all harking back to the halcyon days where any criminal worth his salt would feed your cat and turn the immersion off after he raped your gran and pinched your pocket watch and slippers. a better class it was. the sleeve tells us.....'it contains sections on topics as diverse as witchcraft and spying or protection recketeering and police corruption'.....hang on. this isn't going to be one of those fancy dan, la-de-da, outre criminal tomes is it?...'the more obvious types of crime are, naturally, also featured from lady-killers to parent-killers'. phew. thought it was gonna go all weired on me.

the moon's a balloon by david niven: 'the memoirs of a gay buccaneer' shouts the cover. niven sits back in a chair, floating away in a cartoon balloon, possibly having just told his annecdote about when he used to organise 'indoor pony races', before sailing into hollywood.

Charles and diana, their story by john craven: i'll skip to the end and the very last line.....'as they begin their life together, the future of the royal family looks in good hands'.
