olegrich's film review of the week - Sin Nombre

olegrich [Edit] [Delete] 10:40, 26 August '09

Wow, what a film.

Very, very bleak in spells but never anything short of compelling. Reading that the film was shot on trains carrying actual immigrants as they make a break for the border only emphasises more how powerful the struggle is for these people. And is there anyone on earth scarier than Mexican gangs? (Insert 'Millwall fans' here).

I really recommend this film to anyone, not just people with an interest in 'Foreign Film'.

Has anyone else seen it?

NB: Hilarious moment at the end whena group of chavs walked out, proclaiming, 'this is bollocks bruv' because apparently they had been missold on the film and expected Mexican scarface, not a bleak love story which involves Mexican gangs.
