Classical music

yes_ [Edit] [Delete] 12:38, 8 September '09

i've spent the last month surrounded by the edinburgh INTERNATIONAL festival (the posh one, not the good one) because of my work, each night hearing through the closed doors to the auditorium some of Europe's best orchestras (apparently) performing hugely famous pieces and all that. Its something i'd really like to be able to appreciate but I feel like I have no frame of reference.
My chief ambition is to go one night to see something by Wagner, understand it, appreciate it and enjoy it. But how do you do this when you're so removed from the world of classical music, even just because of your age?

Does anybody on here like classical music at all? Is it worth it? I like rachmaninov. Thats the only classical cd i've got.
