So I'm looking to get a passport, but £72 seems a bit much to pay all at once in my current circumstances. Anyway, over about ten years it works out at 7.20 a year, right? So why not give people a payment plan, like you have to pay 7.20 by a certain date each year for ten years until the passport is paid for?

I think this is a pretty sweet idea. People who try to avoid payment would be flagged on a national database, and any attempt to leave the country would be met with blocked.

I think it'd really help a lot of the low-earning folk out, meself. What say you?
