has anyone else ever felt like they're completely stuck in a rut in their life? a rut in a miserable place?

i don't want to go on a depressive spiel about things cos everyone has their own (and probably worse) problems. but in a nutshell the last thing my flatmate said to me today before she left for work was "you know, i'm scared that one day i'll come home and find you hanging from the ceiling."

i've no idea how i ended up here. and i've no idea how to climb out. but enough's enough, right? :'(
