The Metro (yeah, I know) ran an article yesterday about Straight Edge shows in Camden, and they're also cropping up in Sheffield recently. Is Straight Edge returning or did it never go away? I like the idea of punk shows that the kids can go to, but I do like a pint and a fag so I'm out. Ian MacKaye's version as outlined in "I got Straight Edge" always sounded a bit fascistic to me, and according to the article there was violence at the gig. Personally I'd rather not get elbowed/kicked/covered in beer/bled on just for going to a gig. I always though Minor Threat were against all that. Anyone been to any of these? Is it really Straight Edge or just a 14+ gig with a soft drink bar?
