Masterchef - Finals week

jacques_le_biscuit_ [Edit] [Delete] 11:03, 20 October '09

Yep last night was the first finals program. The 3 contestants who shall hence forth be known as Bamos, My name is Earl and Woman had to go to Sketch and make high tea. No scone and a cup of Darjeeling here though, they each had to make a sarnie and a couple of desert type things for some discerning patisserie chefs including Michel Roux Snr (possibly the nicest chef ever. EVER).

They all done pretty good. Bamos done well on a couple but his choux was far too big. Earl scrimped on his sarnies fillings and his rose macaroons simply weren't rosey enough. Woman done great on all 3 with MR eulogising about her pastry.

Back into the studio where they had to make their own trio of deserts. That meant Gregg was going to try 9 different desserts, oh yes.Woman made 3 mango things, one of which Gregg didn't know what is was from it's description, I thought he was an ingredients expert? pah.Anyway her mango trio went down pretty well.

Earl made a trio of desserts based on a tequila slammer. Sounded bloody stupid to me but looked great and the judges thought it tasted very good too.

Finally Bamos, who is proving pretty creative, made a trio based on some old school sweets. It looked good (apart from the paper bag which was a bit stupid) but it was inventive and went down well with the judges.

More tonight where they cook at Stamford Bridge for a bunch of melts.

Cheers
