Music Social More…

OK, I'm gonna throw it out there. Did anyone else think 'The Road' (the book)

ashstreath85 [Edit] [Delete] 00:37, 29 October '09

was overrated?

And I base this on the reams and reams of ejaculatory praise on the inner sleeve(s) of the paperback and talking to loads of people who've read it ("Aaaaah its amazing! AMAZING!")

I'm not for a minute saying it was rubbish - rather, I thought it was a pretty good, rapid read - but I just couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

I'd just re-read Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison - a genuine work of art - which may have dramatically influenced my thoughts.

I just think Cormac McCarthy is all bit hollow and pseudo-intellectual.

Thoughts?
