I now have an "X-Box Three Hundred and Sixty" with a game called "The Grand Theft Automatic: Chapter Four" and need some help

So - I just have the console itself, not the live nonsense - I've not connected it to the interwebs yet.
SO, when you load it up it just goes straight into the game, with the silly plot and everything.
A) Is there a way to set it to "Free Play" or is it best just to ignore the missions and go on an effective free play within the game?
B) I have a bunch of CHEATS that you type into the PHONE...Now - when I get the phone up, the only option it gives me is "Multiplayer" I can't seem to type the cheats in.
Pls halp.
