The kids of today, pavement etiquette & the general lack of concern for the Green Cross Code

vamos [Edit] [Delete] 09:35, 6 November '09

Every morning on my walk to work, I hit the school rush filtering down my road to the local college.

'Now when I were a'lad...' I'm sure if I saw someone coming the other way I'd move slightly aside to make way for them. Whether it be an old woman, a fellow teen or Gary Mabbutt.

But it seems this is lost on the average teen these days, with packs of the pavement-hoggers walked three abreast and even going so far as to walk into you.

When coupled with their trait for crossing the road at the busiest point imaginable by doing so in little herds and holding their hands out to stop traffic as if to say 'You have to stop for us, we're children and we know you've seen those ads' you're left with a commute that takes several minutes longer than strictly necessary due to all the weaving involved.

Bloody children. We were probably like that too. Weren't we?

And yes, I know. I realise this makes me sound 56. And I couldn't give a fig's cardigan about it...
