did you enjoy it or was it awkward?

i've organised a couple in the past which were great successes, and i'm thinking of doing another one now for a friend who needs some cheering up but i'm not sure if it would be a good idea or not. she's cancelling the party she had planned because she doesn't feel like being a host and "entertaining people". but if it were at someone else's house and she didn't have to do anything about it other than turn up and be loved, maybe that would be better?
