Is it just me or do these guys seem to get the lion's share of media references. Characters in TV shows who've been involved in the military always seem to have been a marine.

Come to that it seems like people you read about who've been in the US military have been marines. They're either the largest section of the US military by far or they've got infinite love for some reason.
