What do you think'll happen to Labour after the next election?

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 11:00, 30 December '09

Given CG's given such a tedious attempt at a political 'discussion' today I thought I'd start a thread instead. I'm not saying it'll be any less tedious but at least I'm doing it 'cos I want to know what people think rather than just seek attention.

Let's assume the Conservatives come to power in the summer, which they probably will. What do you reckon the future of Labour'll be? Do you think they'll try to get another Blair-esque third way leader (which I guess'd be Milliband), move towards the left or where do you think they'll go?

I think the next-but-one election may be particularly interesting - it's pretty obvious to all but the most die-hard Tory that Cameron isn't anywhere near the levels of popularity of Blair when Labour got in and the Tories will come in more due to Labour's failings than their own merits. He's also going to come in to a difficult job with a massive deficit and a recession to deal with so I can't see him being particularly popular or bringing in the feelgood factor. But at the same time Labour'll still probably be in disarray and trying to sort out their own internal mess so it could pretty much be up for grabs.
