To cut a long story short(er)

I realised I was no longer friends with someone on my course at uni on facebook so I message him asking why and he replied with this.

"Hi Chris thanks for talking to me. You put a status up on facebook saying no to the islam4UK march which I found very disrespectful.I can't be friends with someone who doesn't understand Islam"

there was a little more, but that's all that matters anyway..

So I was SHOCKED obviously and told him that it's fine you want to respect your lives lost, but I found there was a lack of thought into the whole idea. I also said, just because we differ with some views and I don't follow Islam, doesn't mean we can't still be friends...etc etc.

He didn't message me back.

What I don't understand though is he is a really nice guy and i've never had a bad word to say about him and it's a shame, but he's being a knob right? Should I just leave it, because I certainly wont apologise?
