Anyone ever work nights?

manbearpig [Edit] [Delete] 13:45, 10 January '10

How do you deal with a situation where your housemates show no consideration for your sleep patterns? there's one fella in particular i live with, who wakes me up almost every day and keeps me awake cos his voice is so loud and he insists on enteraining guests/having loud conversations in the kitchen - which is directly below my bedroom - instead of say, the sitting room - which isn't - listening to loud music, singing, banging doors, etc

anyway today i had enough and came down and asked - pretty reasonably, i thought - if him and his friend could go into the sitting room or maybe just lower the volume a bit. then the guy makes a dismissive kind of grunt and looks at me as if i'm crazy, i get a bit thick then, he tries to turn it into an argument saying 'i live here too' or 'how am i supposed to know you're sleeping?'(clue: i work nights) and so on, and now here i am too stressed out to sleep now and no-one wins. see it's not as if i expect them to all tip-toe around the house and shit, but surely there has to be some level of consideration. i don't start making a racket at 4 in the morning on my nights off.

who's being the cunt here? me or him? what would you do?

tl?dr?
