does anyone know much about the effect WW2 had on american men in the 50's and 60's?

michael_w [Edit] [Delete] 16:45, 3 February '10

or, more to the point...could you point me in the way stuff that looks at this idea, deals with that theme..whatever..

i've been watching the world at war....

and then i started watching mad men series 2 again

and then i listen to a screenwriting podcast about revolutionary road

and then JD salinger died

i dunno....it just all seems to be linked to the idea of the way that american (i mean all, but specifically american in these cases)men had to deal with the war...its psychological effects and all that

like...norman mailer once said

'literature became the great post-war project'

anyone able to point me in the direction of ideas, material...etc etc..

?
