Getting a job in the world of publishing/editing (Halp-centric)

tobythecat [Edit] [Delete] 15:12, 5 February '10

Hello good citizens of DiS.

A very good friend of mine is looking to try and get a job in the vague field of publishing, doing basically anything she can (proofing, copyediting, admin stuff etc). She has a degree in technical writing, and is really good at editing shit and making stuff look good and all that jazz.

Basically does anyone have any tips about how to go about getting into the field, or does anyone know of any openings or opportunities going? I think there are a few people on here who do similar things (bamos? joey?) and might be able to help us out here.

oh and ps the tricky part is she is american so getting a visa is an issue, but we'll deal with that when we get there :D

HALP ME drownedinsound kenobi - you're my only hope!
